Getting to know Liouying

Natural environment

Liouying District is situated to the north of Tainan City proper. The northern border of this district is composed of Jishui River, Guichong River, Sinying District, and Dongshan District. To the south lies Guizaigang Irrigation as well as the districts of Liujia and Siaying. Liouying District measures about 16 km from east to west and 4 km from north to south, occupying an area of about 61.292 square kilometers. In terms of topography, the eastern part of the District has higher ele-vations, with many hills such as Jianshan, Niaohu, Shanjhusian, and Mapu. Major peaks include an unnamed peak at 249 me-ters above sea level and Jianshan which measures 222 meters above sea level. The areas to the west of Guoyihou are com-posed of flat rolling plains measuring about 15 meters above sea level.
